The Story of David and Goliath
A long time ago, in a land called Israel, there was a giant named Goliath. He was over 9 feet tall and a very strong warrior. Goliath came from the Philistine army, and he challenged the Israelite army every day to send out a fighter to defeat him, but no one was brave enough.
One day, a young shepherd boy named David, who took care of sheep, heard about Goliath’s challenge. Even though David was small and not a soldier, he believed that with God’s help, he could defeat the giant.
David took a sling and five smooth stones, and went to face Goliath. The giant laughed at him, but David said, “You come with a sword, but I come in the name of God!” David took one stone, put it in his sling, and swung it at Goliath. The stone hit Goliath right in the forehead, and he fell to the ground, defeated.
David became a hero, and the Israelites celebrated their victory. The story of David and Goliath teaches us that even the smallest person can do big things with faith and courage.
